What is the Auditory Access
Program?

 

Where is the Auditory Access
Program located?

The Auditory Access classroom is housed in Prescott Elementary School in the Scranton Public School District. Students can be included in programs of the Prescott School, as well as those of the Auditory Access classroom.
In addition, some students may also be included in the Dual-Language Preschool on the SSSD main campus.

Who provides the Auditory Access Program?

The Scranton State School for the Deaf provides the program in cooperation and collaboration with the Scranton School District and Northeastern Intermediate Unit # 19.

How do parents enroll their child in the Auditory Access Program?

Doing any of the above will set the wheels in motion for your child’s enrollment in the Auditory Access Program.

What is available for children attending the Auditory Access Program?

A sampling of available services:

 



Transportation is provided by your MAWA* or school district.

*A MAWA is the agency that plans for preschool education for children ages 3 to school age of your district. For example, NEIU is the MAWA for Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. Hazleton School District is the MAWA for Luzerne County.


The Way to Prescott School

From I-81N take the River St. exit- exit number 184- toward PA-307, turn left onto River St., turn Right onto Meadow Ave., turn left onto Moosic St./PA-307, turn right onto Harrison Avenue, turn left onto Pine St., Prescott School is at the corner of Prescott Ave. and Myrtle Street.


Prescott is located in the “Upper Hill” section of Scranton at the intersection of Prescott Avenue and Myrtle Street. If you are coming from SSSD proceed South on North Washington Avenue to Myrtle Street and turn left, proceed to Prescott Avenue, school is on corner. From downtown Scranton proceed North on North Washington Avenue to Myrtle Street, turn right and proceed uphill until you reach Prescott Avenue. On-street parking is available.

 

The Way to SSSD

From U.S. Interstate 81, Exit 188: follow directional signs at the end of the exit ramp toward Dunmore. Follow Blakely Street to the traffic light at Drinker Street, turn right onto Drinker Street which merges with Electric Street. Proceed to the second traffic light. At this intersection, turn right onto North Washington Avenue. Enter the main driveway on your right. The visitor parking area of SSSD is on your right.
